Texas Thanksgiving

I am in Texas for Thanksgiving visiting family and it has been kind of relaxing. I have eaten turkey and Tex-Mex and injested plenty of cold medicine.

The woman next to me on the plane was coughing and sneezing and I tried my best to avoid it. I didn’t touch anything. I didn’t eat or drink anything nor did I look in her direction. I guess the germs were airborne because I got it. So I have been sick during my visit. It is kind of a drag, but I have been getting some much needed rest. I am not too sick to enjoy myself, but I am having to pace myself. Actually, I am feeling pretty rotten. I am thinking about canceling the family get together this afternoon. I know some people might be upset, but I am not feeling too good and I will be really busy when I get back to Chicago.

I have to make a decision soon because I think we are leaving soon.

Thanksgiving Turkeyboy

I think I am going to overdose on turkey. When I land in Dallas on Tuesday, I’m being picked up from the airport and will be taken straight to my neice’s and nefew’s school where they will treat me to a big turkey lunch. Then two days later we will have the official turkey and football thing with the fam. The kids will probably turkey around while we turkey on the couch during the turkey game. Then the next day we will go to the turkey and turkey ’till we drop and then go home and turkey. I am sad that my neice, Ila, wont be there, but my sister will try hard to fill the Ila shaped void in my holiday with plenty more turkey.

How do I tell my family that I am no longer a Cowboy fan? I may just keep silent, but the subject may come up since they are playing and all. Well,I am sure they will still love me, after all, my cousin married a yankee from Buffalo and they didn’t disown her.

I was wondering if there are any Thanksgiving songs…hmm… That’s one for the Google!

Electrocuted Preacher

On Sunday Morning, Kyle Lake, 33, was electrocuted while preparing to perform a baptism at University Batist Church in Waco, Texas. He was partially submerged in the water and grabbed a microphone. I can only imagine the shock and horror.

He left behind a wife, a daughter and twin sons.

Long Time No Post

So I have been doing lots of stuff and have neglected this poor blog.

Well, let’s see.. where do I start. I went to visit Bill two weeks ago and he is doing fine despite the fact that he has terminal cancer. Bill decided to buy the guitar he has wanted for a long time, a ‘57 Gold Top Les Paul. He couldn’t afford the real thing, so he ordered the reproduction model from the custom shop. It is beautiful. While he was at the guitar shop, he bought an Epiphone Les Paul Classic Quilt top in red and gave it to Aracely. She was floored when he gave it to her at the big party two weeks later.

Party? You say party? Yep, Bill and Dee’s church threw a big open house party at the church honoring their 30 years of service. There was a slide presentation a speech and a big jam session. Much blues was played. Tears were shed, you could really feel the love in the room. It was really cool.

So the new album is happening and we were really counting our blessings in rehearsal yesterday. God is good. Gotta go.
