Too Stinkin’ Busy to Watch TV!

In December I moved into a new room here at Jesus People. It was kind of nice, but I thought I would have a hard time getting along without a TV. I didn’t own the TV in my old room, my roommate did. So at first I struggled to get reception on the old worn out TV in the living room but I soon gave up. Then I looked into getting a TV receiver for my computer. I just couldn’t justify the cost and hassle. So I gave up trying to persue TV viewing. From January 2005 ’til now (September 2005), I have probably watched a total of 10 hours of television.

Lately I have discovered that I am too busy to watch TV. It is kind of weird. I stopped watching and soon I was filling my time with projects. I have gotten a lot done and I have a pile of more stuff to do. In order to start living my life, I had to free up the time that I normally would have spent in front of the tube.

Anton LaVey said something in an interview about 14 years ago that has stuck with me. He said something like “television is Satan’s greatest invention.”

Sorry about the comment spam

I turned off comments because I was getting comment spam. It seems that if you leave a space for dialog in this world, some people will abuse it. As soon as I get back from Detroit, I will try to fix it.

I am playing in Southgate, MI, a suburb of Detroit with Aracely on Friday night at 8:30. It would be cool to see you there if you can come.

A forwarded message from my sister

My niece, Ila, lived in Biloxi, MS. She is staying in the Dallas area with her mom (my sister) for probably a month. Here is the message from my sister:

I want to thank everyone for their prayers for Ila.

As many of you may or may not know my daughter, Ila, lives in the Biloxi area, she is O.K. but like so many others in the area she has lost everyhing. Along with her friends Chris and Nikki Bailey they managed to get one of the cars started and are headed this way. The gas gauge was not working (car was flooded to the windsheild) and they could only hope they could make it to Jackson. They ran out of gas 20 miles from Jackson, roadside assistance could not help, and they were waiting on the highway patrol when a good Samaritan came along and gave them some gas. Our God is so good! They made it in and found a gas station that had electricity and gas, were able to fill up and get on their way.

Before they left Biloxi they went by the house (a mobile home) and found it still intact, but it had flooded and ruined everything. But, their 4 cats were still alive, they are coming with them! When I asked her about the surrounding area and what she saw, she said “Mom, there is nothing left, everything is gone.” She said it is total destruction everywhere you look. They and so many others there have nothing left, they were able to drive out, but they took no water and had no food. They were told that it may be 3 to 5 days before help arrives in the area.

Our school, Immaculate Conception Catholic School wants to help. We have started a donation basket at school. I spoke to Sandy at the Denton Red Cross this morning and she said a monetary donation is best because it cost to much to ship the goods there. If you can make a donation please send it to the school and we will send a check to the Red Cross.

Our God is a wonderful God, my daughter is on her way to me, I can’t wait to hug her.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, keep praying they all need it.

A very releived mom.
Rosemary Kehoe
